how much do 7.50x16 tyres cost and from where??
Ive been driving my landy with avons for years and always found second hand ones. But they are to old and dont grip even on dry roads.
I have no idea what they should cost nor weather i should buy radials and where?

Hello,
Firstly, and because you wrote in English where are you living ??
In France, first price is about 100€ for 7.50 SAG.
In UK, I think it's a litlle less expensive ... actually I'm waiting prices in UK from a friend used to go through the channel... that's why I give my pont of view..
One another thing, in UK it seems there is more choice .. and more low cost tyres from asia seems too ...
About Radial or CrossPly .... what is your car and which purpose ??

I hadent notice i wasent loged in untill id posted!! Cookies seem to have gone? As ihad started i had to rush out .
Ive been wondering if my Series 2 would run better (and use less fuel) if i fitted radials? But what size?? 2??x??x16
Untill today i had imagined that shortly after Michelin inventing the radial in the 50s the crossply was no longer made, and that the Avons ive found were (and are) very old.
Is there a good discount seller in France? And what about remolds?
I drive on roads and cross contry lanes never do trials but greenlaneing.

personally, i would go for 'blackstar' remould tyres, those with the BF AT design, around 100 € (VAT inc.) each.

the 'globe-trotter' model, now available in 7.50x16

Yes that dose look good. We have quite a few tyer shops selling blackstar hear.
I have been amazed at the low prices for blackstar but never seen any 16s!
I will call one or two discounters to ask about landy size! For my Peugeot 304 they start around 23 euros, none for my citroen 2cv though.
Sadly the "Landrover" copies may have pushed the prices up? While in fact the prices ought to have come down with such large demand!!!
Profit before ecomomics?
Thanks for the replys.

oh ! oh ! cool down...
i think 7.50x16 would best suit your landy, or the nearly equivalent size 235/85x16, but, i might worth more advices from other forumers, before opening your purse... you're not going to wear them that quickly, so if you did the wrong choice, you're gonna bite your fingers quite a long time...
First question : what size are your wheels ? 16' ok, but what width ??? (5, 5.5, 6 ???)
and what have found, and for what price ?

I went to a large expensive Landrover garage yesterday just to look at tyers on Landys. This garage sells the series 3 rear exhaust part alone for 110 euros plus tax and fitting!!!
While i was waiting (to be shown tyers) the secratary had 4 calls all customers that couldent beleive the amounts they had to pay for work done!!! One was replaceing the break shoes on all four wheels 980 euros?
The 205x85x16 were quite big and on a defender and they cost 140 euros each??
As did the Michelins the other garage will sell me for 65 euros each?????
I have 5 inch standard rims i may have 4 5.5 rims that came with the S3 and fully worn out 7.50s on but its only a hope!
I went back to the small local garage he said that i can have the 4 Hanooks?? he has in stock or the 3 Michelins for 65 euros mounted! We looked in his tyer book and the 205s are not as high i will ask who high 6.50x16 are
The problem is if i order say 2??x70x16 he told me he will let me have them for 90 euros each and showed me the selling price which was 170 euros !!!!
Is it really worth paying another 100 euros just to have 70 in place of 60s?? 80s cost a bit more again!!
I cant find remolds for less than 65 euros fitted!!!!! I thought i could drive about on these and put my old avons back on at the rallies, and change again for greenlaneing!!! I should get quite fit!!!!

Avon Rangemaster.
2 are brand new, only done about 100 miles, 2 have 90% tread, but a little cracking around the edges, and two are about 80% tread.
5 on white 110 steel rims, one on black steel rim.
Contact to see if DLR has any left;

I dont mind collecting them and taking them to Sodbury if you decide to buy from DLR
