Old Sodbury Sortout
Bonjour,
Not sure if any of you have heard of the Old Sodbury Sortout in England? It is a swapmeet/autojumble entirely devoted to Land-Rovers and LR parts and is held twice a year at a showground in Newbury, Berkshire near the M4 Motorway. Anything LR is available from small parts to complete vehicles, for any model from S1 to Freelander. There are some trade stands as well as used parts. I believe overseas visitors get free admission. The website is
http://www.oldsodburysortout.co.uk/
I realise it is quite a way to come, but it is not too far from the ferry port at Portsmouth. May be worth thinking about for the next one. I believe a French LR club do attend, as well as some people from Belgium and Luxembourg.
I have been several times as a buyer, but am going as a seller this year - I have some old tyres to sell and one or two bits and pieces. The only problem is the weather forecast - it is due to be wet and windy all day unfortunately.
regards,
Michael

Yes sometimes it is! Saturday at Sodbury was VERY wet ALL day. The ground turned into mud in places - great fun! I did sell my 4 tyres so have more room in the garage now, thankfully.
Tomorrow is also going to be wet and windy with gales. Perhaps I should head to the south of France for some sun.

More seriously (if google can be considered serious
)
Boxing Day
The day after Christmas, the Feast of St. Stephen, the first Christian martyr, is better known as Boxing Day. The term may come from the opening of church poor boxes that day; maybe from the earthenware boxes with which boy apprentices collected money at the doors of their masters' clients.
Nowadays, we often see, in certain families, gifts (boxes) given to those who provide services throughout the year.
"Boxing Day" is listed in the Canada Labour Code as a holiday.

Boxing day...
Hello there !
Boxing day, huh.
Maybe we could use this as a pretext to celebrate our Land-Rovers which, after all, could be considered aluminium boxes.
And since someone here proposed to go out on or around the Winter Solstice day, why not make it into a serious celebration of Worship ?
We could build an altar and make offerings to the Prince of Darkness, for instance.
Or ceremoniously burn a Toyozuki or Itchypuzzy on a hilltop while chanting and dancing around the fire, clad in Birmabright panels, wearing Lucas jewelry and getting as high as kites by sniffing EP90.
Of course, to keep thing civilized, we would not sacrifice any virgins, we'll leave that to the pagans.
See y'all.
Takeo.

Yo yo yo yo.
Great, and for those who wish to stay there for the w-e there's a good campsite only a few miles away from the showground.
It's also worth to mention that Dunsfold usually held an open door w-e at the same time and coming from the Southcoast it's on your way to Newbury.
Still have to think about this but I'm seriously tempted to enter the next edition as a seller, anyone being to the Sod before will understand...
