Birmabright Weekend 2010, 21st-23rd May 2010, Kutna Hora, CZ

So, it's that time of the year, May is just around the corner

I will again organize a meeting for Series Land-Rover owners in Kutna Hora, Czech Republic, historic mining time, UNESCO site, blah blah blah. And lots of laning :)

This year we will again lodge at the Malesov campsite outside (but close to) Kutna Hora, as it offers accommodation in small tourist cottages (or what's it called in English) - this proved especially fortunate last year, as we enjoyed a spectacular thunderstorm on Friday just before the meeting.

There's a lot of "new" leafers around in CZ, it's spreading faster than swine flu (must be some kind of a leaflu  ), so we expect a slightly higher turnout, despite the large crowd of people who enthusiastically promise anything but never turn out :8):

This is what we intend to do during that weekend:
:super: Friday, 21st May 2010:
- Arrival of participants during the afternoon, the campsite is open so earlier arrival is no problem.
- A beer-drinking festival of Oktoberfest proportions will ensue either after or before dark :8):

:super: Saturday, 22nd May 2010
- During the morning hours we will stand, sit, lie around the campsite, moaning about what we did last night and admiring each others' vehicles. In general, we usually wait for those who can't force themselves to wake up in time for the announced time of departure for the laning trip... :)
- Breakfast can be had in the local "pub", but don't expect anything big or particularly appealing - just don't ask questions, fill your stomach and go :)
- Departure for the laning trip is usually not before 11:00 - as I wrote on the Czech forum, the morale of participants in the morning is usually so low that I started contemplating a night greenlaning trip :D
- The trip includes lanes and tarmac roads totalling some 100 kilometres in length, so a fuel tank at least half-full (or half-empty :) ) is adviseable. The route includes a stop for a group photo at the Vysoka hill, which includes a barbeque prepared from what the participants can throw together.
- Another Oktoberfest follows in the evening.

:super: Sunday, 23rd May 2010:
- Most participants usually bid farewell to others already during breakfast (some already leave on Saturday, but the programme can be shortened or extended depending on the participants' morale and condition :)
- For foreign visitors a tour of Kutna Hora or a visit to the Kacina chateau, the National Agricultural Museum in Caslav or anywhere in the vicinity can be arranged.

I (and several other participants) will be coming to the meeting from the direction of Prague, i.e. we can take you with us and the column or pick you up at the airport, if you don't want to bring your leafer.

Hi, your translation services will be most appreciated, as I obviously want to appeal to the largest possible crowd

The Czech LR forum's URL is http://www.landroverforum.cz/forum/index.php or http://landroverforum.klape.cz/

Thanks again!

Hi 1960SeriesII, I'm very interested by your meeting as I'm not living so far from Kutna Hora!
If you don't mind I will copy your message to the Polish LandRover Forum and may be some Polish guy will come :)
I'd like to go there, it's only 550 km from me but I'm alone and I'm afraid that my friend Pierre (also based in Warsaw and also a leafer) will not be able to go... I will ask him anyway and let you know.

Cheers and I hope to meet you there. :hello:

Unfortunately it will not be possible this year, my friend Pierre can't come and I must take care of my boy this week-end
But we will try in 1 year for sure!

Sorry

Stiopan :hello:

Well, the meeting's over - we've broken just about any of the event's records, from the number of participants, number of foreign participants, number of thunderstorms per day and the amount of beer consumed per person

21 leafers took part in the end, although some of them joined us briefly or even only for the group photo.

A few photos

Hi, we had participants from the Netherlands, the UK and Germany. All of them said they'd come in larger numbers next year

The group photo was taken from here:
