une question de la part de "SepticBrit" sur le forum series 2....

Quick question...what would it take to aquire a set of dual Series IIA audible horns and workings (the originals, provided by LR on all French bound vehicles) from somewhere in your neck of the woods..?

Thanks!

more details requested...

I' m not sure to understand your question quite well.
are LR horns different in France? or are you interested in buying other french vehicle horns (dual horns) to fit on your landy ?

I believe he has information that suggests that some landies sent to france had two horns.
or perhaps they are twin tone (make two different notes at the same time)?

french horns are always using two devices generating two different notes, activated at the same time. this is for acoustic reasons, but i do not know exactly.
this was true for old horns, i dont' know if it's still like this

Indeed Land Rover did offer a Series dual-horn option for their Home Market...
...but also a 'dual-sounding' hornset for the French Exports as well.

A nice detail and if possible, I would prefer Series Land Rover parts to keep mine as 'original' as possible.
The part numbers here are LR and this foto is from their later version of the Series Options Catalog.
(Catalog part # RTC9009 - June of '73)

Thanks!

Thank you for your revelation. I didn't know that there was two horns on a french série.
Mine is a "ffr" from néderland; That's why, perhaps i didn't find even a small horn in it
I can imagine that even the smallest horn would be a great pleasure when you are in a difficult situation like trying to avoid a small "sanglier" on the road of Bannegon 2005, so I have to search it next year, instead of the back of the car, near of the large circle called by all decent and well educated french personn: "volant". :hello:

Hi All.

Regarding my LHD '64 88 Diesel which was purchased new in France in that year by it's previous owner: It has only one horn of the trumpet type as in your left image in part catalogue.

Good Luck with your search.

Cheers
