Importing a modified Series 3

Message par tiny_tam »

Hello
We are moving to France and would like to bring our Series 3 but she has parabolic suspension and uprated shocks (pro-comp), grey modular wheels, Kumho mud tyres and non-standard seats. Does anyone know if this will cause a problem when applying for ffve attestation, CT and Carte Grise?
I'd be very grateful for any advice.

That shouldnt cause any problems, only becomes a drama when the engine has been changed etc.
Make sure your chassis number or VIN is clearly visible and that it matches the v5!
Your will need your v5 and will need to get a letter from land rover France or ffve to confirm the type of vehicle (about 150 quid from l-r I think) from the chassis number.
You will then need a french controle technique (or mot) and can then head to the prefecture with all the the paper work to get your carte Gris (French v5).

Simples!

FFVE is telling me the mods need to be contemporary so I'm wondering if 1972 Series 3 would have parabolics?

Hi again
Seems parabolics are not a standard mod for this age of vehicle and I've been advised to get a CoC from Land Rover France and get my modifications approved by DRIRE/Prefecture. Has anyone tried to do the Reception de Titre Isolé (single type approval) at their Prefecture for parabolic springs and, if so, what was the outcome? :mur:
Any advice gratefully received!

Here is my opinion : you don't need to go through the RTI for parabolic springs. You will have to go through the "controle technique" : the guy would't even known the difference between genuine springs and parabolics. Then you you ask for the certificate to Land Rover France. Then you get the "carte grise" or "certificat d'immatriculation" at the Prefecture. If any problem with the controle technique, you would see then what to do...

Well we made it!! Been over here for a few months and got a partial certificate from Land Rover France ..... but just noticed that they have cleverly confirmed that my Series III is a Series IIA!!!

(They only issued a partial certificate because they say that I should only have 2 seats, not 4..... despite the fact that it had 3 originally..... )

Good Afternoon, :hello:

Registering a "modified" Land Rover (or Range Rover, for that matter) is officially a problem here.

However, as the MOT guy doesn't know a lot of Land Rovers they'll miss tiny details like 3.5 Tdi engines, full roll cages, powersteering, diskbrakes, different seats, parabolics, Koni's, BRB bush bars and what have you.

Make very sure the VIN number is there, the paperwork is correct and the vehicle is in the best of health.

We have several .... shall we say : "modified", LR's & RR's and have logbooks for them. I must admit that we're not yet have begun to register the 109"Cherry Picker yet

Good Luck
